Tennessee State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director-Upward Bound. The Assistant Director position for the Upward Bound Program is a 100%, 12 month position that reports to the Project Director and supervises the instructional phase of the program which includes one Academic Advisor and other part-time employees.
The Assistant Director assists with writing proposals, recruitment, identifying and selecting program participants, and monitoring the goals and objectives of the program. Other responsibilities include planning and implementing workshops, tutorials, and individual/group counseling sessions on self-esteem, self-motivation, time management, and study/test taking skills.
In addition, the Assistant Director must assist in planning cultural, career, and educational activities, college campus visits and tours to motivate participants to pursue a post secondary education and to also raise awareness about financial assistance. Must be available to work on Saturdays and extended hours during the summer phase.
